FCAA has made the commitment to support the 12UA All-Star Team to compete in the Cooperstown All-Star Village Invitational Tournament in Cooperstown, New York . FCAA is proud to announce that we are able, for the 8th time, to send the 2018 12U All-Star team. Below is more information on who is eligible to play, the cost and other details concerning the team.
Who is Eligible?
Any registered FCAA player age 12 or under is eligible to try out for the 12U All-Star team*. The All-Star 12U try outs are being held earlier this season in order to allow the team more practice time in addition to raising funds and making travel/accommodation arrangements for the Cooperstown trip.
* A player must have played 3 Spring seasons of Rec ball at FCAA to be eligible for the 12U All-Star team. Players not meeting this qualification may apply for an Appeal/Exemption request. The Waiver/Exemption request form can be found on under the handouts section of the FCAA website.
What does it Cost?
All Star costs are determined by the costs of the tournaments the team chooses to participate in as well as the cost of uniforms. Which averages $400 to $500. There is an additional cost for the Cooperstown tournament. The Cooperstown tournament will cost approximately $1000 per child and per coach plus additional travel costs. The cost only covers the player. It does not include the player’s family. If the family wishes to accompany their children to Cooperstown the expenses for travel, accommodations, and other expenses are their responsibility. The average cost for a family of 3 (not including the player) is $3,000. This covers travel, food and accommodations.
Where does the Money come from?
The cost to send a team of 12 players, 3 coaches and 1 umpire is $12,800. This cost only covers the registration fee to play in Cooperstown. It does not include travel expense. The park gives the Cooperstown Team $3,000 and the team is responsible for raising the remainder of the funds by conducting various fundraisers. All players, coaches and parents are expected to participate in these fundraisers. One of the biggest fundraises is a golf tournament that the park holds every year and is the main source of the funds.
What does this Cooperstown trip entail?
The team and three coaches will stay on-site at the Cooperstown All Star Village housing. The team and three coaches will receive three meals a day, tickets to the Baseball Hall of Fame, Induction into the Cooperstown Youth Baseball Hall of Fame, and other gifts. The team is guaranteed to play in seven tournament games, six seeding games and at least one tournament game. More games will be played if they advance in the tournament. The team is also required to bring an umpire or pay for one when they are there. The umpire does not stay with the team nor do they ump any of their games.
